Provision of Aids, Gadgets and Equipment
A hand or upper limb injury or condition can have a large impact on activity and function. Some people benefit from certain devices to help them do things more easily. Fortunately we have very specific skills with helping you select and trial items that might be best suited to your arm problem. Nobody likes to be dependent on help, but there really are some very clever and sometimes discreet items out there that might assist with your life and function.
Navigating the possibilities of aids, gadgets and equipment can be a minefield. That’s where we can help you with their selection for your injury or condition, including arranging equipment trials. We also stock some items that you can try out in your therapy session.
Here is a list of some of the more commonly prescribed items:
- Jar openers
- Large-handled pens or writing aids
- Ergonomic utensils
- Computer keyboards, mice and ergonomic equipment
- Kitchen stations /chopping boards
- Kettles for one-handed use
- Custom solutions using thermoplastic splinting material
- Electric kitchen devices (e.g. can-openers) that can be operated with one hand only
