FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my health fund cover hand therapy?
Our hand therapists are occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Your level of cover will depend on what category of extras you have. Often occupational therapy falls into a higher level category so it is always best if in doubt to contact your health fund. Exercise equipment and off-shelf splints are typically not covered but a custom made orthosis / splint is often covered.
All of our sites have HICAPS which allows for instant private health claims / reimbursement.
How much is the cost of equipment and splints if I need them?
We provide custom made splints which can range from $10 for a small finger strap, $25 for a finger splint or up to $150 for an elbow support. A customised wrist splint will cost around $90. We also sell products to help with your rehabilitation such as tapes and exercise products. Our therapists will discuss the costs of these with you should they be recommended.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Please bring any referral information, imaging including X-rays if you have them. If your case is related to a work injury or motor vehicle accident, bring your claim number. If you are coming for a specific problem such as a sport related or musician related problem, then bring along any associated equipment or instrument if possible. Videos of activity or a work environment are usually very helpful too.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral if self-referred.
There are funding schemes which do require formal referral. You do need a referral to claim therapy through the following:
- Return to Work SA claims
- Workers compensation claims
- Motor vehicle claims
- Department of Veteran Affairs
- Department of Defence
If you require any advice as to which provider the referral should come from, please contact our administration team.
Do you have disability access?
How long will my appointment take?
An initial appointment will usually take between 45min to 60min. Our standard follow-up appointments are 30min but can be longer if required.
Which therapist should I see?
All our therapists are trained in hand and upper limb therapy. We are a close team that are able to support one another to offer comprehensive opinion. All our therapists are trained to do a very thorough assessment. Each therapist brings a unique perspective and skill-set and our therapists all have different areas of personal clinical interests. Our administration team are able to start the process of matching your specific needs to a suitable therapist.
Do you offer a telehealth service?
This is a great option for our rural and regional clients who may find regular attendance difficult. We also offer this as an option for when it is not appropriate for health reasons to attend the clinic face to face. Should you wish to book a telehealth consultation, please get in touch with our administration team whom will guide you through the process.
